About Us

Indonesia Banking School (IBS) is a university that has the official permission from the General Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) and was established in 2004. IBS holds formal education program for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. For undergraduate (Bachelor), there are three Study Programs namely Accounting, Management and Management Islamic and Banking . Whereas for postgraduate, the Master of Management Program (MM) is held. Those two levels of study specifically provides degrees (SE and MM), especially in financial banking and business.

IBS was established by the Indonesian Banking Development Foundation (YPPI), a foundation established and fostered by BANK INDONESIA, which is responsible for developing Human Resources in Finance and Banking in Indonesia. YPPI has several institutions, including the Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI). The LPPI is an educational and training institution for employees in banking institutions. It has been decades since the LPPI has successfully produced a national banking cadre that professionally manages banks in Indonesia.

IBS campus and LPPI are in the same area in Kemang Raya 35 South Jakarta. To enable alumni to work directly in banking institutions, IBS has collaborated with 20 conventional and islamic banks including Bank Mandiri, Bank Syariah Mandiri, Bank Muamalat Indonesia, Bank BCA Syariah, Panin Syariah, Bank Danamon Indonesia, BRI Syariah, BNI Syariah, Bank Mega Syariah, BTPN Syariah, Bukopin, Bank DKI.

To face the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) that has been starting since the end of 2015. IBS has prepared the students to be more ready to work as professionals and enter the industries by providing them with these several activities and programs :

  • Providing a 6 (six) months internship program in the 7 (seventh) semester at Commercial Banks in cooperation with IBS.
  • Requiring graduation with the minimum TOEFL score of 550, General Banking I Certification, and also Risk Management Certification.
  • Stabilizing the student’s national insight so that they will love and cherish their home land country more: Indonesia.

IBS is fully supported by Bank Indonesia (BI) and also the Financial Institution Authority (OJK). The Governor of Bank Indonesia Mr. Perry Warjiyo SE. MSc. Ph.D as the member of the board of curators of IBS, Chairperson of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso
SE, MSc, Ph.D became the member of the Honorable Faculty. Other members are former Governors of Bank Indonesia, Chair of the National Sharia Council / Indonesian Ulama Council and former Managing Director of BUMN Banks.

Chairman

IBS was officially operated in 2004, based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 37 / D / O / 2003. The establishment is a development of the Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI), a non-profit institution that provides services to banks and the public in forming professional bankers. Historically, LPPI has played a role for more than 50 years, since it was founded in the 1950s. The name and activities of this institution had undergone several changes, starting with the Bank Academy, Higher Education in Finance, especially Banking (PTIKP), the Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI) and the Indonesian Bankers Institute (IBI). However, since 2004 the institution has carried out its activities under the name LPPI again.

In 2008, BAN-PT as the official institution for accreditation assessment, gave the value “B” and in 2016 had the same accreditation value. The value of accreditation is obtained for the Undergraduate (S1) study program both Accounting Study Program and Management Study Program. It was officially licensed for the two study programs in the specificity of the banking sector.

In September 2008 for the first time IBS successfully graduated as many as 59 undergraduate students. Until now, IBS has graduated as many as 1,399 undergraduate students (one thousand three hundred ninety nine). IBS alumni have worked in various fields, especially finance, banking, and some alumni even have their own businesses.

In 2010 based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 98 / D / O / 2010, IBS was given permission to hold a Master of Management study program. In 2013 MM study program received B accreditation from BAN-PT. Until now, MM study program has graduated 168 (one hundred sixty eight) people. Most of the students at MM were bank employees, including Bank Indonesia, Bank Mandiri Syariah, Panin Syariah, Bank BRI, BRI Syariah, Bank Bukopin, Bank DKI, Exim Bank, Bank Capital, Citibank, Bank BNI, Bank BTN.

In 2016 based on the decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. 403 / KPT / I / 2016 in 2016, IBS has obtained permission to hold an undergraduate program in Islamic Finance and Banking Management.

Since September 2016, this study program has accepted students for the first generation. In 2018, for the first time this study program graduated 19 (nineteen) people. These graduates were transferred from the Sharia concentration in the management study program.
Since 2014 until now, the Accounting study program, Management study program, Financial Management and Islamic Banking study program, as well as MM are being upgraded in terms of its activities and governance. Improvement in all these fields aims to get a re-accreditation with an A value from BAN-PT. Various efforts that are being carried out are also expected to be able to make the A accreditation value institutionally.

IBS establishes networking with various institutions, especially those that are closely related to finance and banking. The established MoU includes cooperation with Bank Indonesia, the Financial Institution Authority (OJK). Other forms of cooperation include: Bank Mandiri, Bank Syariah Mandiri, Bank Muamalat Indonesia, Bank BCA Syariah, Panin Syariah, Bank Danamon Indonesia, BRI Syariah, BNI Syariah, Bank Mega Syariah, BTPN Syariah, Bukopin, Bank DKI, UOB Bank .

In 2014 Bank Mandiri provided grants to improve the indoor sports field. In addition, Bank Mandiri also provided a mini bank development grant. Bank Syariah Mandiri provided a Mushala development grant in 2014. In 2015 Bank BRI donated funds to establish a canteen that could be used for a lunch area for students, employees and communities around the campus. In 2018, Bank BNI provided a grant to improve space and lecturing facilities.

Dr. Kusumaningtuti Sandriharmy Soetiono SH, LL.M. (Chairman)

Dr. Kusumaningtuti Sandriharmy Soetiono SH, LL.M. Completed her undergraduate study at the Civil Law Department Study Program at the University of Indonesia, Jakarta in 1979. Her Master’s degree in the Department of International Law, Washington College of Law was taken at American University, Washington DC, USA in 1984. Subsequently, she received her Doctorate in the field of Law, Banking Economics, Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia, Jakarta. In 2008. Dr. Kusumaningtuti Sandriharmy Soetiono SH, LL.M, has been a Senior Researcher at the Center for Central Banking Education and Studies of Bank Indonesia, Director of the Center for Central Bank Education and Studies at Bank Indonesia, Member of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority for Education and Consumer Protection and currently a Commissioner of PT GoJek / GoPay.

Dr. Erric Wijaya, S.E.,ME. (Vice Chairman for Academic Affairs)

Dr. Erric Wijaya completed his undergraduate studies at Sriwijaya University in 1998 in the Economics and Development Studies Program. Furthermore, he earned a Master’s degree in Economics at the University of Indonesia in 2003 in the Economics Program. He earned a Doctorate in Economics Program in 2015 at Padjadjaran University. he has experience as a research team at the Institute for Community Economics Research (LPEM), University of Indonesia, Research Team at the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF), and Research Team PRANATA University of Indonesia. Various national scientific writings have been produced by him in journal articles and seminars. He joined the Indonesia Banking School since 2004.

Gatot Sugiono S., SE, MM. (Vice Chairman for Finance and General Affairs)

Gatot Sugiono S., SE, MM. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Department of Development Studies, Airlangga University, Surabaya in 1981 and earned a Master in Management (MM) in 1998, MRR Concentration Corporate Strategy, Asian Institute of Management, Manila, the Philippines.

His first professional experience was as Head of Bank Indonesia Representative Office for Riau Province in 2007, in 2009 he became Head of Bank Indonesia Representative Office for North Sumatra and Aceh Region, Executive Director of the Human Resources Department of Bank Indonesia in 2010, in 2012 became Executive Director Bank Indonesia Money Management Department, Commissioner of Perum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (Perum Peruri) in 2012, in 2014 he became Independent Commissioner of PD. BPR Bank Daerah Bojonegoro, served as the Daily Implementing Body for the Indonesian Banking Development Foundation (BPH YPPI) at STIE Indonesia Banking School, 2015 – 2019, and as Daily Supervisor of the Indonesian Banking Development Foundation (PH YPPI), 2019 until now.

Dr. Whony Rofianto, ST., MSi. (Vice Chairman for Student Affairs and Marketing)

Dr. Whony Rofianto, ST., M.Si completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at the Bandung Institute of Technology in 2001, earned his Master of Science degree from the University of Indonesia in 2004 and became a Doctor in Marketing in 2014 at the University of Indonesia.

He has expertise in Digital Marketing and Higher Education Marketing. and has professional experience as an Engineer at PT. Kenari Mobil Surya from 2001 to 2003, became a member of the faculty at the Indonesian College of Economics and Banking (STEKPI) from 2004 to 2005, as a Trainer and Consultant at Edukasindo from 2011 until now, teaching at the Postgraduate Management field at the University of Indonesia until now as well as a member of the Faculty at the Indonesia Banking School.

Dr. Ir. Batara M Simatupang, MT., M. Phil., CIMBA. He earned Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) from Maastricht School of Management The Netherlands in 2007 and 2004; He earned a Master of Technology in Industrial Management (1996) from the Graduate School of ITB, earned a Bachelor of Engineering & Industrial Management from STITEK Dharma Yadi Ujung Pandang in 1991, and a DIII graduate of Electrical Polytechnic from the University of North Sumatra (USU) Medan 1986.

He has worked in various professions, among others, Lecturer in Energy Engineering at Unhas Polytechnic 1987-1990, Free-lance Consultant 1991-1995; Engineering Staff at the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development 1995-1996; Executive Director CEES (Center for Economic and Environmental Studies) 1996; Manager at Corporate Division 2 at Bank Dagang Negara (BDN) 1996-1999, Relationship Manager at Bank Mandiri 1999-2000; Communications Manager at Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary 2001-2004, Mandiri Scholarship Awarding in Europe and American Class DBA Program at Maastricht School of Management – The Netherlands 2004-2007; Trainer Specialist at Mandiri University 2007-2009; Human Capital Head Senior Manager and AVP (Assistant Vice President) Regional Marketing & Wealth Business Manager at Regional Office XII Papua and West Papua Provinces in Jayapura for the period 2009-2012, Senior Manager (AVP) at Corporate Banking IV (Agrobusiness Banking) Bank Mandiri Jakarta 2012-2015; then joined STIE Indonesia Banking School (IBS) in 2015 as a MM Program Lecturer.

He is also the holder of a professional CIMBA (Certified Investment Market and Banking Analyst) degree; Certified in Risk Management from BSMR (Risk Management Certification Agency) and LSPP (Banking Professional Certification Agency); WAPERD (Vice Fund Selling Agent) Certification; and Life Insurance Agency Certification from AAJI.

Dr. Ir. Hayu Prabowo M.Hum. (Director of Research and Community Service Center P3M)

Dr. Ir. Hayu Prabowo M.Hum. He earned a Doctor of Islamic Economics and Finance at Trisakti University in 2013. His professional experience is as Chair of the Indonesian Environment and Natural Resources Council of Indonesian Ulama, Head of the Department of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Indonesian Mosque Council, Jury of the Indonesian Tourism Village Award program, Postgraduate Lecturer degree in Indonesian Banking School in Islamic Economics and Finance, and as the administrator of the Al Amanah Islamic boarding school, Wonogiri, Central Java.
